Three Black Cats

****** This is one of my new series of large linocuts with 2 screen printed colours *****

I love cats, especially black cats. During a trip to Bruges last winter whilst wandering the streets at night, enjoying the magical atmosphere I stumbled across two very cross black cats. Howling at one another and causing a right old ruckus I felt I had to intervene – it didn’t go well and I reluctantly left them to resolve their differences. The next day lit up in a window I spotted a beautiful, serene, chunky black cat ornament (I think it was Japanese ) he was such a character as were the other two that upon returning home, I started drawing and this print was the result of those encounters.

I print everything from my studio using a small wooden hand press and my etching press. The finished result is unique and original with no two prints being alike.
